July 2013 ~beauty trash!

This is my first ever empties post but I love reading other empties posts and watching empties videos so thought I’d try my own version.  For those of you that are new or don’t know about empties videos and posts – basically people collect their beauty/skin care empty containers and then do a review on the product and let everyone know what they think.  To actually empty a bottle of something takes not only time but dedication to using the product and at the end…you know whether or not you liked it!

Sorry this will be a longer post – I didn’t realize I had so much in my little basket!

Here are my empties:

BODY Products:

Bath & Body Works Foaming Hand Soap – Sparkling Pink Champagne

I really loved this scent!  I bought it late last fall so I’m not sure if it was a fall or winter scent but it smelled nice and fruity.  (There is no scent description so I’m sorry I can’t tell you what it is!)  Plus I’m really liking the foaming wash because you can use 99% of it instead of the thicker soaps where you either water it down or throw out the last bits.  I recommend these soaps to everyone and love how the scents tend to linger after.  I am working through my stash of back ups before I can buy more but will definitely be picking up some more once I am out!

Clean & Clear Body – Morning Burst (Mango & Papaya) Deluxe Sample

This was a really nice body wash.  I love the fruity and bright scent that it has.  It is a great citrus smell to get you going in the morning and left my skin feeling soft but isn’t the most moisturizing so if you have dry skin I’d follow up with lotion.

Schick Hydro Razor-

I’m due for a refill and wanted to share my favorite razor with you.  I cannot recommend this enough – check out my post {battle of the razors} for a more detailed review!  You will not be disappointed!

Gillette Venus Breeze Razor-

Not a fan.  I always think that if they have gel on the tops and bottoms that are on these “floppy” pieces of plastic that sort of move along the contours of your skin that it would be good.  The draw back is they seem to dry up really fast – and you never want to leave it in the shower if you share your bathroom with others because I think that was part of my problem.  Plus this only has 3 blades and I’m spoiled with the new razors that have five blades!  This was ok but just not my favorite.

Dove Cleartone Skin Renew-

Yes…I’m sharing with you my empty deodorant! But for good reason!  I seriously love Dove products.  I had tried other brands in the past but some can make me break out and who wants itchy pits! 🙂  This works, smells nice, and gets the job done.  I didn’t really have any skin tone issues in that area but it works so I keep buying it!

OPI Avojuice Skin Quencers – Winter Huckleberry

I got this from my hair stylist a couple years ago and have been slowly using it because I didn’t want it to run out!  I’m almost certain this was a limited winter scent since I can no longer find it but their other scents are equally as lovely.  I would suggest this lotion over my cult favorites of Bath & Body Works or Bliss because it is very light, super moisturizing, and absorbed really fast.  I hate that greasy feeling that lingers after you put on lotion, especially if I’m at work, this was perfect and I will look into buying some in the future!

Wen – Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner (sample)

I hated this.  I know hate is pretty strong and I was bummed because I hear so many people rave about Wen products but I tried it for the first time, followed directions and it left my roots feeling super greasy immediately after.  My hair just felt gross that day.  Maybe I didn’t rise it out enough but it did say work a little into your hair at the end as a leave in conditioner – and I didn’t come close to my roots.  I’m confused, maybe this is a bad first experience since so many people love it but I also absolutely hated the scent.  It reminded me of a medicinal scent mixed with fruit and it was not something I liked.

Couture Color Pequi Oil Treatment – sample

I have tried a lot of hair oils recently since I dry and heat style my hair a lot.  From high end to drugstore brands I’ve tried a lot.  This one stands out as a top favorite.  It wasn’t greasy and absorbed into my hair immediately.  I only used it on my ends but loved the softness it added and will look into buying some in the future.  Lastly the scent is very light and clean smelling – also a plus in my book!

Equate Nourishing Nail Polish Remover (Acetone)

I bought this because I like to use glitter nail polish on my accent nails.  This worked pretty good, but I’m not specific to one brand or another so I usually go with what ever is convenient and cheap!

Mary Kay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover

I LOVE this product!  It is one you need to shake up first but it has lasted me forever and it works like a dream on various types of mascara and eye liners.  I am working through samples of Clinique’s eye makeup remover which is quite similar but a little more expensive.  I would definitely recommend the Mary Kay or Clinique.

Covergirl Lash Blast Volume – Black

I really like this mascara!  It did start to flake on me towards the end which I hate – so it was time to go!  It can be built up or kept natural with a single coat.

Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara – Black

I have received a few of these in samples and love the product – it has a traditional brush and does a nice job at separating my lashes with out clumping.

Maybelline DreamLumi – Radiant

I LOVE THIS.  I fee like I’m saying that a lot in this post but hands down it has become my favorite way to treat dark circles.  I was using a brightener by Clarins but have since changed to this because its about a third of the price, lasts just as long, and works!

Clinique Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser – Sample

This is a great cleanser for oily & combination skin.  A little bit will go a LONG way – literally a pea sized amount seems to be more than enough for my face.  It can leave skin feeling tight but soft so make sure you moisturize afterwards if you feel the tightness.

Garnier Moisture Rescue – Refreshing Gel-Cream (Normal/Combo skin)

I liked this – I originally bought it because I thought it was a dupe for my favorite Clinique Moisture Surge Gel.  To me it wasn’t a dupe but it was a good alternative.  It has cooling properties which feels really nice on your skin but could be drying for some skin.  It has a very light scent which was alright – normally I prefer unscented skin products but I would consider buying this again.  It just wasn’t as moisturizing as I would prefer so I felt like I had to use more of it.

Origins GinZing Hydrating moisturizer – sample

Here again was a lightly scented product that I liked.  It was fast absorbing and worked pretty well.  It was a little heavy for my t-zone but I did use it on my drier areas and it was good.  I would recommend this product to others.

fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Cream – sample

This has lychee in it and the smell drove me nuts!  It was also quite heavy so I only used it at night.  My skin would be a grease pit if I used this morning and night.  I like a lot of fresh’s products but not a big fan of this one.

Thanks for stopping by and reading about my trash!  I’ll work on making my next empties post a lot smaller!  It is a great feeling to use up products and know that I’m working through my stash of products!

Have a great day!

You can buy the Garnier in a normal to dry skin moisturizer. It might be more nourishing for your skin. I have really oily skin, so this gel is perfect at leacing my skin hydrated but not greasy.
