Winter Empties!

PicsArt_1390867348723I love reading & watching empties posts and videos.  Here’s my latest batch of empties to share with you! 🙂

Aussie’s 3 Minute Miracle –

I really love this, its pretty cheap, and it works for me.  The past couple of years I’ve gotten into growing my hair out, but at the same time, I am working to take care of the ends since I like to heat style my hair.  Every week or so, I apply this to the ends for an extra drink.  I have gone through a couple of these and already have a new one in the shower!

Jergens Ultra Healing (Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer) –

I’m a little embarrassed to say that this is a couple years old but this winter I decided to work through my stash of lotions before buying any more and this was one of the first victims!  It has your standard “clean” Jergens scent and I liked that it left my hands feeling soft without being super greasy or I had to wait for it to soak in.  This lived on my office desk until I used it up!  I would buy this again, I liked that its light and it worked for slightly dry hands but it was only fair once winter set in and my hands were really dry.

Nivea Express Hydration & Extended Moisture (deluxe samples)-

I really love being able to try lotions in deluxe samples that last for a while so you can get a pretty solid impression on a product before buying a full size.  The express hydration was really light and almost gel-like and a clean scent.  I enjoyed this during the summer or fall when I wanted something light but its not one I would reach for in the winter.  The extended moisture was light and worked better for me in the winter months.  Both are great but they were just average.  I think if I had the choice I might reach for something else, but in a pinch these worked.

Bath & Body Works Twilight Woods Triple Moisture Shower Cream –

When this scent came out I was in love with it, and I liked the super luxurious feel of this on your skin during the winter.  By the end, I was really tired of the scent and I hated how the cover of the bottle was flaking off and sticking to my wet hands!  It was driving me crazy.  I would try this formulation again -but I think I’d go for a lighter scent instead of a more intense one because this lasted me a lot longer than I thought it would.

Biore Acne Clearing Scrub –

Next to Boscia this is my next favorite cleanser brand.  I love the steam activated cleanser that they took away – but I think they just brought it back.  In an attempt to replace that one, I went on a quest to try their others.  The citrus scent in this was perfect for sleepy mornings and the scrub was gritty but it didn’t feel like it tore up my face like some can.  If you have oily or combo skin, I’d suggest this one.  I would buy this again once I work though some others in my stash.

Up & Up Cotton Rounds –

I feel like cotton rounds are love it or hate it.  For one reason or another we all have our preferred brand – these were okay but not my favorite, I have been using them up on my nails.

Julep Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum-

I got this in my first maven box and after three days it simply quit working.  I’d twist and twist and twist and nothing more would come out.  I did not use it up in three days or if I did…there wasn’t hardly anything in it!  I am not really a fan of twist up products because you can never tell when its empty.  I did contact Julep and they sent me out a new one within a couple days.  They get an A+ for customer service, but I was really annoyed that there wasn’t much in it.  (My replacement is still going after daily use for a couple weeks btw!)  I’m still on the fence about this product – I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase or not.

Secret Scent Expressions in ooh la la lavender-

This was okay, I like lavender but was seriously tired of this scent by the time I finished the bottle.  Another winter goal/resolution was to work through my massive assortment of perfumes, samples, and body sprays.  (I get bored easily and keep changing it up!)  This was one I wanted to just make go away by the end.  It was nice and light but seemed almost too fake of a lavender scent for me.  I wouldn’t repurchase this.

Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara (deluxe sample) –

This is my FAVORITE mascara!  I have managed to get several of these over the years and have never purchased a full size!  It worked well at separating and lengthening my lashes without getting cakey or flakey.  It is not waterproof but it didn’t smudge on me, and it held the curl in my lashes better than several other brands.  I will buy this when I use up my last sample!

Philosphy Time in a Bottle (deluxe sample) –

I really liked this, looked into purchasing it, and was like ahhh no thanks! Its not that impressive to spend $74!  I just have fine lines to contend with right now and am working on a new product that is a fraction of the price and I’m loving the results so far! (Future blog post teaser…)

Algenist Microalgae Oil (deluxe sample) –

I enjoyed this sample and just dipping my toes in the “face oil” world.  This was pleasant, absorbed quickly, and didn’t make me oily.  I used the sample for about 4 days and I didn’t notice any differences so I think I’ll pass  on purchasing this.

Thanks for making it though my empties with me!  Have you tried any of these?

Have a wonderful and hopefully warm day!

  1. I love your reviews and I am such a Philosophy girl and was wondering how “Time in a Bottle” was, but did not want to pay the price. I’m looking forward to the upcoming less expensive option! 🙂 My only suggestion is to have taken a close-up pic of each product either in addition to your complete empties pic or instead of. For me, I haven’t always heard of a product, so being able to see close up packaging helps the post come more alive; just a personal preference. But other than that, great content, love the pic you included and looking forward to future posts! 🙂

    • Thanks for the feedback 🙂 I’ll try more pics next time, but they were kind of grubby looking! Maybe I’ll try grouping similar items and do a couple pictures closer up.
