Road Trip Beauty Essentials { blog hop }

Hi Loves! This post is part of a blog hop with the amazing ladies in the Beauty & Fashion Blog Community facebook group. (If you’re a beauty blogger – join our group for great discussions and future hops!)  Click [HERE] to join the party! This month’s post is the 5 items we’d grab for a last minute road trip (excluding our essentials like cleanser, moisturizer, deodorant, hair products, etc.)  I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out which five products I would grab. (Sorry they are dirty looking but this is how they’d look if I grabbed them on my way out the door!) Lets go on a road trip!  Here are my 5 Must Haves!

  1.  Foundation w/ SPF
    • Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous in #810 Classic Ivory $8.79
This is one of my favorite foundations.  It will last all day for me, I can build it up, and it doesn’t leave my oily like some with SPF do.  I also love the added protection of SPF – on a road trip you never know what you’ll be doing and you should be using SPF on your face any ways!
  2.  Eye Shadow
    • My small Z-Palette $14.00
I have two small Z-Palettes that are a combination of shadow duos & quads that were taking up space in my makeup bag.  The one I chose is mostly neutral colors that can go from day to night. With the variety of shades I can also build up a smokey eye or keep it simple.   I love that its about a 3″ square, it has a  sleek design, and easily fits in makeup bags or purses with out a lot of bulk.
  3. Blush & Bronzer
    •  Nars Duo (laguna & orgasm) $24 -mini size
I bought this duo when it was at Sephora near the check out about a year ago.  I don’t use it that often but like that its a blush/bronzer duo so I can have both with me in one sleek package.  Its also a small travel size, and I’m all about saving space while traveling!
  4.  Tinted Lip Balm
    • Clinique Almost Lipstick $15  Pink Ribbon Honey (Limited Edition – no longer available!)
I chose this because it is really smooth, has a little bright pink color and a bit of shimmer to give you sparkle and shine.  I linked to their cult favorite – Black Honey if you were interested in trying the formula. I also like their chubby sticks but grabbed this because it feels more moisturizing to me, and on a road trip – no one wants dry feeling lips!
  5. Mascara
    • Maybelline The Rocket Waterproof Mascara $5.99
This mascara is really great – however it is also more of wet formula than some.  I know people can have a love/hate relationship with wet or dry mascaras – so heads up!  This formula seems to hold my curl really well, can be built up, and its waterproof!  Its also important to point out – for me – it is fairly easy to get off with eye makeup remover.  Some waterproof formulas are also bulletproof and at the end of the day I don’t want to wake up with streaky, smudgy, raccoon eyes!

The last test – giving it the 1 qt plastic bag test – not that you fly on a road trip but it shows the size well and we can all relate to that size!  It fits easily and room for any road trip beauty purchases that I might make. Since this was part of a blog hop – please visit the following ladies listed for what they’d grab for their road trip essentials!

Thanks for stopping by Gracious Luck!  What would your top must haves been for a last minute trip?

We “brought” the same foundation! 🙂 That Z palette is awesome, I love that you can just customize your looks! That lip gloss looks really beautiful too, iv’e never tried an “almost lipstick” by clinique yet

Great minds think alike! 🙂 I love z palettes because 95% of that palette is drugstore brands like wet n wild, a couple victorias secret shadows, and some covergirl…I think! I love that you can make your own palette with your favorite “staples” or thats what I did for this one. I snagged this almost lipstick in October when Clinique does their breast cancer items and love it. I kind of wish I picked up two of them!!

Thanks! I always try to save space, even on a road trip, who wants to lug around big suitcases or bags?! Plus I thought that is one item that most of us can relate to when it comes to travel of any type! 🙂

Thanks! Z-palettes are awesome, and I really love the small ones for eye shadows – plus they travel really well being so small. I’ve never tried the bigger ones, but I’m trying to save space so feel like the bigger sizes would be too clunky for me.

I love that you tested it out in a travel bag!!! The airline liquid rule is one reason I have started wearing so much Essie rather than OPI – the bottle pack better in the clear plastic bag!
I also have the Almost Lipstick in Black Honey – but I think I like your color a lot better, especially for summer!

We brought the same z palette those things are so awesome for traveling or organizing/making are more compact They are good investment for sure!

I love tinted lip balm! That’s all I wear on my lips a lot of the time. Good to know that there’s a waterproof mascara out there that isn’t impossible to get off! I’ve been considering switching to waterproof since a lot of mascaras smudge under my eyes, but I’m always worried about how difficult they are to get off. Thanks!

Mine smudge some times too, esp since I have crazy allergies and the rocket works really well for me and its a drugstore brand which is even better.

ooh I love the Z palette! I would have totally brought that along except I don’t have a lot of variety of products de-potted right now. Eventually, I would like to have the perfect travel Z-palette with blush, bronzer, highlighter, concealer, lipstick, eyeshadow, liner, etc.!

  6. Ashly Eyler says:

Okay, I have to Google “Z-Palette”. This is like the 2nd or 3rd Blog Hop post where that was featured and I have no idea if that’s a company or just a way to organize palette’s lol… *so much to learn*. I love your selected items and think lashes are a must wherever you go. I haven’t tried the Rocket Mascara but am pleased with the other Maybelline products I’ve tried so I’ll have to give that a second look! Great post and love that your products were “dirty,” that means you’re a true make-up die-hard and actually use your products! 🙂
