GL Gets Fit?! {intro}

Motivational Fitness Quotes Photo 9Hi Loves!  I’ve been a bigger girl my whole life, and while I’m fine with that – I want to be a bigger, “healthy,” girl – and take care of myself.  Heart disease, diabetes, and various cancers run in my family.  If I’m doomed to get something like that down the road – I at least want to be in a healthier place than I am right now.

I’m going to be doing these posts weekly – usually on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.  I have an alarm set on my phone to go off every Tuesday morning for a weekly weigh in.  While I”m not brave enough to share hard numbers – I’ll share the amount I gain or lose.  2 weeks ago I gained 2 lbs…last week I maintained…this week – I lost 3 lbs! YAY! (small victories!)

I’m doing this as a way to help hold myself accountable and hope to maybe inspire some of you to jump on the bandwagon with me! 🙂

I’m on sparkpeople and was a few years ago – lost a nice amount of weight…but gained it back.  Its time for me to get back into some sort of exercise routine and watch what I eat.

I decided to take on a challenge today – the 30 Day Plank Challenge.

Every week – I’ll update you on how its going, but it starts off with holding a plank position for 20 seconds.  I’m not going to lie…I could barely make it 10 but I paused, and did it for another 10.  My whole mid section was shaking – thats how out of shape I am!

This weeks GL Gets Fit question is – What is your favorite healthy snack to keep around?  I’m a snacker and would love some ideas to try, especially ones I can grab on the go and take to work!

1 pound of fat = 3500 calories (technically, they are kilocalories, but....) so to lose 1 pound of fat/week, you must burn 500 calories/day more than you are taking in each day. To lose 2 pounds/week, you must burn 1000 calories more than your daily caloric intake. 2 pounds/week is a very safe weight loss goal. Remember, muscle is more dense than fat & burns more energy so as you replace fat with muscle, you may not see changes you want on scales but your clothing should tell the real story!

      Thanks for the ideas – I love string cheese and just ate my last piece over the weekend, I think thats one that I’ll always keep around. 🙂

    I am right there with ya! I’ve never been small, but I’ve always tried to eat healthy”ish.” Now I want to really get healthy and lose some weight and just feel better about what I’m putting in my body! I’m going to look into this whole planking thing!!! Good luck!
