Mary Kay ClearProof Acne System {review}

First off – I’m a member of House Party – and Chatterbox is a service within House Party that lets you try products and you “chatter” about your experiences with the products they send you.

I was selected to try the Mary Kay ClearProof Acne System $45
Details:

With the Clear Proof® Acne System, you get an effective regimen clinically shown to provide clearer skin in just 7 days.* The four-product set:

Clears up blemishes without irritation and helps maintain a clear complexion.
Unclogs pores, removes excess oil and leaves skin feeling healthier.
Fades the look of lingering acne spots.
Attacks multiple factors that can contribute to acne breakouts.
The value-priced set includes:

Clear Proof® Clarifying Cleansing Gel,** 4.5 oz.
Clear Proof® Blemish Control Toner,** 5 fl. oz.
Clear Proof® Acne Treatment Gel,** 1 oz.
Clear Proof® Oil-Free Moisturizer for Acne-Prone Skin, 3 fl. oz.

My thoughts:

I have semi-sensitive skin. I have an oily t-zone and drier cheeks. I used this system as directed on the packaging for a little over two weeks to give my skin a chance to react and recover. It was great at combating oiliness and breakouts in my t-zone but really dried me out on my cheeks and sides of my face. I think this is a great system if you suffer from a lot of acne or oily skin. For my combo oily/dry skin it wasn’t that great of a balance.  I would recommend this if you have oily acne prone skin – if your skin is combination I’d be conservative with it and only use it while you’re breaking out.

Disclaimer — I did get this free from Chatterbox and Mary Kay.

  1. Thanks for the review! I am in a constant search of awesome acne products, but unfortunately I do have combo skin and I’m not a fan of being dried out.

    • If you were going to go with a Mary Kay product you don’t wanna be dried out, the best would be the Botanicals line. Botanicals has a separate formula for combo/oily skin and normal/dry, but is made for the crowd that isn’t ready for anti-aging products yet.
