Hi Loves! I was celebrating my birthday with a few friends a couple weeks ago and a few of us checked out a local winery before dinner. We had such a great time I wanted to share it with you! (I know very few of my readers are in the midwest – but just in case you are in the area – check these guys out!)
While I’m still a novice in wine, I know that I love sweet white wines like mascatos and blushes and wanted to try a local brand.
First off, this is located right off Hwy 12 in Northeast Nebraska. There is a small vineyard and a beautiful building perched on top of a hill. The building is a year or two old and very welcoming and inviting. The views are also lovely with rolling hills and landscaped grounds. It was a perfect place to kick back with a glass of wine and catch up with friends. (I really wish I had taken time for a few more pictures instead of the two I took!) Visit their site and facebook page to see more pictures of the location.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a wonderful staff member who asked various questions like what type of wine we prefer and the flavors we like. He then suggested a few different wines he thought we would enjoy. Our first sample was their sweetest offering the Doc Middleton – and then tried the mystic (a favorite), Roslyn’s Blush, and our favorite – the St. Pepin. Between the three of us girls we left with 5 bottles of wine – 3 were the St. Pepin! 🙂
Since I’m not a wine connoisseur, this is how the St. Pepin is described:
a soft sweet easy drinking white wine with peachy to apricot overtones.
They have an offering of 13 white and red wines – we were allowed 4 samples and then bought a glass to enjoy with some locally made cheese (the smoked cheddar was perfect with our sweet glasses of the mystic flavor). Be sure to visit their website for a full listing on what they offer, where you can buy it, or you can order it online!
I cannot wait for another visit taking some new friends this time and introducing them to a new brand of Nebraska Wines! If you are looking for a warm and welcoming environment for a novice or someone who is fluent in wine – I think this winery will be perfect.
Thanks for stopping by Gracious Luck today! Are you a wine drinker? What’s your favorite?
