Hi Loves! As I’m writing this I just completed Day 11 of 30 days of yoga – with Yoga With Adriene! I’ve done 11 days straight and I’m still in love with it! In 11 days I’m loving the fact that she keeps mixing up the sequences such as intense ab/core workout followed with a meditation based sequence the next day. While I struggle with several poses I’m getting better at basics like warrior and downward facing dog.
What I’m loving This Week – Two moves left an impression with me and I wanted to tell you about them! This week I was introduced to and fell in love with the lizard pose and pigeon pose. (I feel like I’m adding to a menagerie!) Both focus on stretching your core and hip area. I think because I sit 95% of my day at a desk working these poses feel even more amazing. If you have a desk/office job – I’d highly suggest trying these out at the end of the day.
First – the lizard pose. I modified mine by resting my hands on a block because I’m not quite that flexible yet – and…I have a chest! 😀 This felt like an amazing stretch through my stomach, lower abs, hips and thighs.
Next – I loved the pigeon pose. You feel this in your hips, thighs, and butt! Both are quite similar but the pigeon is a little more relaxing to me since I rest on the mat instead. (Side note – I just found Yoga By Candace via pinterest! She does a great job at breaking down moves like Adriene who I’m doing the challenge with. Click the pictures and visit her page if you’d like to learn these moves!) Confession – I cannot lift my back leg like she does below. I leave my back leg flat on the floor with top of my back foot flat. Maybe some day I’ll be able to get my back leg to look like that!
Challenging moments of the week- This week I’ve found that I cannot do the crow pose. Its just not meant to be…yet! I’ll keep working towards it but for now, thats on my can not do list! (Google it if you’d like to see it – since my post is already heavy with graphics I’m leaving my post to moves I can actually do!)
Small victory of the week – I was seriously struggling with side plank, I could not get up off the floor. I was discouraged and frustrated – but after trying again a day later – I’m able to hold it briefly! YAY! Side plank is shown below and my core and wrists are not ready to hold that for much more than a few seconds! However – I relish in the small victory of being able to do it at all!
I’m looking forward to the coming week and sharing some new moves and thoughts with you. If you’re interested in trying the 30 day challenge – I’ve put the playlist below. Thanks for sticking with me and visiting Gracious Luck today!
