GL Gets Fit #41 {challenge fail…sorta}

It is about what you learn on the way down. www.destressyoga.orgHi Loves!  Now the arm challenge was put on hold.  For years I’ve had a pinched nerve in my shoulder, right about where the arm & shoulder meet or in the area of a bra strap.  I’m not really sure when I got it, but I’ve had it since college, or sooner.  Anyways – Monday night I woke up during the night with dull pain coming out of my shoulder into my elbow and then wrist and then hand.  I’ve learned the only real way to cure a pinched nerve is rest or surgery.  Well – surgery isn’t really on my to-do list so I chose rest.  I knew it was nerve related b/c it was a tingly dull pain that I’ve had before.

I took last week off the arm challenge but continued with yoga and my goal of getting at least 8,000 steps a day in. I will try to ease back in to the arm challenge this week and see what happens because I love the tone I’m seeing in my arms!  If I’m not able to continue the challenge I might focus on another type of arm workout since the reps are getting quite high on the arm challenge.

Despite not being able to do my arm challenge – I continued walking and dropped into a new low weight this past week.  Its always encouraging to meet a new low weight after being stuck for as long as I was.  Now that I’ve formed my habit of wanting work out almost daily (Sundays are my rest day) – I knew something needed to change a little.  I focused on eating smarter and also trying to burn more calories with weight work.  I also tried my first “clean eating” recipe this week!  It comes from a nutritionist I like to follow on youtube – Dani Spies.  You’ll have to check her channel out – I love her personality and her videos explaining various foods or food related issues.

The recipe I tried was her Western Egg Muffins.  I enjoy a good omelette every now and then and this was a perfect chance for me to ease into cleaner eating and get much needed protein since I’m usually lacking in that department.  I tweaked mine a little to include shredded cheese and left out the peppers since I don’t care for their taste.  These are the perfect “grab & go” snack to have around.  I like them for morning or during the day when I want a snack but want to reach for something better than sweets or salty chips.

Do you have any “clean eating” recipes that you like?  I love the idea of making my own food so I have an idea of whats in my food and don’t eat out or drive thru as much as I used to!
