StriVectin Repair & Protect Moisturizer {review}

Hi Loves! I a few weeks ago I was contacted by a rep from StriVectin asking if I would like to try a product (um yeah!?).  Note – I did receive this product for free – I didn’t buy it but promise to share with you my honest thoughts and impressions of it.  First a little about the product.

StriVectin Repair & Protect Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30
1.7oz $89.00
Product Description:
Repair & Protect Moisturizer is a lightweight, wrinkle fighting daily moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen that reduces visible signs of aging, neutralizes free radicals and helps prevent UV damage. The formula combines next generation antioxidant technology and patented NIA-114™ to enhance skin’s innate defenses and boost its age fighting abilities.

My thoughts –

I’ve been on the hunt for a good moisturizer with sunscreen for ever!  If you’re new to my blog or haven’t read many of my skincare reviews – I have combination oily/dry skin.  The dry skin tends to get taken over by normal/oily skin during the summer months.  My skin is also slightly sensitive and its difficult to find products that don’t make me oily or make me break out.

I’ve been using this for about 3 weeks now and its pretty good stuff!  First off – its a thick, white, product.  A little goes a long way for my combo skin.  I like to use about a pea sized amount.  Also be sure plan a few extra minutes to let it really soak in to the skin before putting your foundation on.  I tend to be a last minute person in the morning and love my Clinique Dramatically Different Gel and it absorbs almost instantly.  The StriVectin product takes a little more time and patience but if I’m planning a day that involves a lot of outdoor activities – I’m reaching for this.  One slight issue I have noticed is that on really hot or humid days, I get oily really fast when wearing this.  Luckily – I’m not outside that often when the weather is like that! 🙂

Cracked Lid 😦

Now a couple drawbacks that I want to mention.
-First – there is a very slight, clean, scent.  This isn’t much of an issue other than a personal preference.  I don’t care for scented products on my face, but it fades pretty fast and its not a deal breaker for me!
-Next – the packaging is a bit bulky and I don’t really like skincare products in pots or jars.  Maybe its another personal preference but I have nails and absolutely despise getting product of any sort whether makeup or skincare under my nails and having to dig it out when I’m done! Also along with the packaging – one morning I was rushed and twisted the cap too tightly and cracked the lid.  Not a big deal but still a little annoying to me when I did it!
-As I mentioned above – I can get oily when combining this with makeup on a humid or really hot day that has me sweating.  That is pretty much inevitable with most sunscreens so take it with a grain of salt!

Bottom Line: Worth Trying!  If you have normal, dry, or even mildly combination skin – I would suggest this in an instant!   I could see this being an issue with people that have true oily skin since it does make my skin oilier at times.  I will be using this when going to a few outdoor events this summer and continue using it when I want to count on the sun protection.  This is a tad too heavy for me to use on a daily basis and I did get a few minor breakouts from oil when wearing it daily for a week.

Thank you StriVectin for the chance to try this out!
Thanks for stopping by Gracious Luck today!

I agree with you. You’ve gotta let this stuff dry for a while before applying foundation. Gotta write up my review.

I agree I don’t prefer my skincare in a jar. I have been testing this too, but I think this is the culprit behind my recent break out flare ups, so I’m scared to keep testing it!

I’m the same. I have combination skin, however, during summer time my oily areas tend to get oilier and I know the culprit is sunscreen. I think I’d probably try a sample of this first before getting the whole jar, although this might be great for me during Fall/Winter. We still DO need SPF during those seasons! 🙂

This looks super interesting! I’m very into staying protected & wearing sunscreen but I also am not a fan of tubs for my daily moisturiser & it is sadly quite exxy :(.
