GL Gets Fit #203 {Rock the Week!}

I woke up in beast mode!Hi Loves!

I’m back into my DDP Yoga groove and kicked off week 2 last night.  I’m a bit discouraged, I restarted DDPY with a friend and he’s slacking.  That’s easy when he’s on the other side of the country – but I’m hoping I can keep him on track and hold him accountable.

I know its hard to fall off the workout wagon and get back on.  I’ve done it quite a few times over the years on my own journey.  I’m just going to stay optimistic and hope for the best.

Since it’s been about 4 months since I’ve started the DDP Yoga adventure, I thought I’d share a few thoughts on it.  First off – its not the zenned out chill yoga that I gravitate towards.  Its rougher, it leaves you sweaty, and Diamond Dallas Page is a bit brash.  My friend loved it because he can’t get into the chill yoga.  Since he has ADHD, I can understand that.  However, I’m feeling more tone in my arms and legs than I have in a long time.  I still have flabby arms and inner thighs but its a marathon not a race and maybe eventually I’ll get them.  I will say the hikes a couple weeks ago wouldn’t have been as possible if I hadn’t been working out.

This yoga program focuses on dynamic resistance and using your own body weight so you don’t need weights or anything other than an open spot on the floor but a yoga mat is nice so you’re not stuck on a hard floor.

Something about me though also gets easily annoyed at these programs.  You essentially spend 13 weeks repeating 4-6 videos.  Don’t get me wrong, some are pretty intense, but personally I have this innate ability to pick up on patterns, repetition and consistency.  After watching the videos after the 4th time I’m picking up on things that bug me.  I’m likely weird that way, and probably why a job in accounting works for me because I need to pay attention to details!  If you just zone out, and hear what they’re telling you but overlooking details, you’ll be fine! 🙂

Bottom line – I’m totally recommending this.  Would I buy it? Well you know I’m cheap, and this was given to me so I’m not sure.  I can see the benefits, but I could also see benefits of my standard chill zen yoga that is free on youtube.  I guess it depends on your style and what works for you.  This works for my friend, and workouts are more fun with a buddy, even across the country.  I’m restarting the journey and will keep doing it because I like seeing myself getting stronger.

However, I may start supplementing my off days of DDPY with gym time (thanks new job!) using an elliptical or weights, and a healthy mix of my zenned out yoga with Adrienne!

Oh I almost forgot, I dropped about half a pound.  Not a big change but it didn’t go up, and given the amount of stress I’ve been feeling, I’m going to roll with it!  Have a wonderful week loves and Happy 4th of July! xo
