Frugal Friday – Top 10 UNDER $10 {beauty products!}

This week’s Frugal Friday is – My Top 10 under $10 in beauty!  I love reading the recommendations of others so thought I would jump on this bandwagon and share with you 10 of my favorites!

1. Real Techniques Brushes – Specifically the Expert Face Brush {$8.99}

I love this brush for applying liquid foundation.  Its super soft and works wonders on buffing in foundation and leaving you with an almost airbrushed look if you do it right.  They are also durable, I’ve used and washed mine several times and have yet to lose any bristles!  *I recently received a 30% off coupon from Kohls which now sells these brushes online.  I’ve never seen them in stores but if you had a coupon and a Kohls MVC card you can score 30% off and free shipping making this brush $6.30!  Coupon lasts until Sunday August 18!  I have also seen these brushes on – however I bought my first from Ulta.

2. Biore Cleansers! – Acne Clearing Scrub {$5.47 @}

-Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser {$5.47 @}

These are hands down my favorite face scrub & cleanser.  The scrub has this citrus scent that wakes you up in the morning or is a nice bright scent to end your day with!  It does have some exfoliation and I’ve used it morning & night but heads up that if you scrub too hard you could rough up your skin.  The ice cleanser just leaves your  skin feeling cool & tingly when you use it.  Lately I use the ice cleanser day & night and the scrub a couple times a week since I’m not breaking out.

3. Covergirl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation {$9.47 @}

I have fair skin – I use #810 Ivory in this and it is perfect!  It can cling to dry patches if you have any so be sure to moisturize before using it.  It has pretty great lasting power – I can get about 8hrs out of it with out a touch up.  I did wear it to an outdoor festival last weekend and despite my face being covered in sweat (thanks humidity!) it didn’t get too splotchy and required minimal touch up once I blotted my face.   It has medium coverage and I love to use with my Expert Face Brush mentioned above!

4. Maybelline The Rocket Mascara {$5.94 @}

I have several mascara’s that I like but this one seems to work about the best!  I use waterproof because I like the extra security of no flakes or smudges!

5. Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer in Radiant {$6.44 @}

I have tried high-end concealers to get rid of my blue tinted dark circles and this one continues to be my favorite, plus its a fraction of the price!

6. Wet ‘n Wild Eye Trios {$2.99 @}

I have a few of these trios and it amazes me at how pigmented they are despite being so inexpensive!  Heads up with the darker colors, start light and build up or you’ll have a mess on your hands before you know it!

7. ELF Bronzer in Golden {3.00 @}

I have tried several bronzers but this is my favorite with a subtle shimmer.  It adds a nice amount of warmth without making me look orange or muddy!

8. Sally Hansen Nail Color {1.99+ @}

This is my go-to drugstore brand of nail polish.  It lasts for a long time and the color choices are fantastic.

9. Maybelline Color Whispers {$5.94 @}

I have this in pink possibilities and its a lovely pink.  Not to bright but adds sheer color to your lips and you can’t even tell its there – which is something I love about it!

10. L’Oreal Colour Riche Eye Quads {$7.95 @}

I have two of these and love the flexibility of the colors!  They are pigmented and versatile.

11 Questions Tag (Avon, Kolaches, Bookworm, etc)

Sam over at Samandro did this tag and offered her own 11 Questions to whoever wanted to answer them.  See her post {here}.

1. What got you interested in makeup?

My mommy is the avon lady pinback buttons

I think this goes back to when I was little.  My mom sold Avon for a majority of my childhood.  Every week was like Christmas for me when that slightly scented Avon box arrived from UPS. (I’m not sure if it was perfume or packaging but I swear every box had a scent to it.)  Every week I’d scour the books for what was available.  And some times if I was really lucky mom would order something special for me…I think it might have started as nail polish which could explain my obsession now?!
2. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

Peach Kolache from Kolache Factory

This is harder than I thought…but I’d have to say a cherry kolache.  Its basically a Czech pastry that I grew up eating when my grandma or great aunt would bake them.  They are a delicious melt-in-your-mouth sweet dough with cherry filling in the middle and a sweet crunchy topping.  I fondly remember my grandma making strawberry ones every now and then when she had fresh strawberries and that is also one of my favorites.  I have it on my list to try my hand at baking them some winter when I can con my mom into helping me!  Lets hope the stars align for to happen this year!

3. What is your favorite book or TV show?

Bones TV Show Poster 12x36

Oh boy…this is also hard.  Favorite TV show…Bones.   I’m a bit of a bookworm or nookworm since I got a nook color for Christmas a couple years ago!!!  Favorite book(s)…there are a lot but one that I go back to over and over again is Nebraska author Bess Streeter Aldrich’s “A Lantern In Her Hand” that I read in a college lit class but if I’m feeling super nostalgic –  my book case back home has the set of Little House on the Prairie books!   I also love what my friends call chick flicks.  And enjoy books on business and leadership but I won’t bore you with those titles.

4. What beauty habit do you just not understand?

Excessive tanning – I worry when I see some people who are super brown and they look stunning but I have to wonder what their skin will be like when they are older if they keep it up, or if they are even wearing SPF!?  I hope they are but I can’t tan – I burn and if I’m luck it’ll fade into a slight tan but I rarely let that happen.  I will randomly self tan if I need some color but typically I don’t – I’m fair skinned and will just stick with it!
OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips5. What’s your favorite nail polish brand?

I have to change this to brands.  OPI, Sephora by OPI, Orly, Sally Hansen, Zoya, and really any brand with a color that catches my eye!

6. What’s your favorite part about being a blogger?

I’m still pretty new to blogging.  But my favorite part is interacting with people that I would have never met before blogging and people who share the same interests as me.
How To Wash Your Face For A Beautiful, Glowing Skin7. What’s the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?

Wash my face – either with an exfoliating scrub or a regular cleanser with salicylic acid which keeps my skin clear and hydrated.

Love the Bubble Necklace8. If you could only wear either jewelry or lipstick for the rest of your life which would you choose?

Jewelry – I think I could change it up a lot more with jewelry rather than lipstick!

9. Who’s your top celebrity crush?

Channing Tatum Paul Walker

Its a tie…Channing Tatum…or Paul Walker
Nelson Mandela Education quote via www.Edutopia.org10. You’ve just become queen of the world, what’s the first issue you tackle?

Education.  I want everyone to have equal opportunities to continue their education.  It will not be mandatory because college or earning multiple degrees isn’t for everyone but I think it should be a choice that everyone has.  This is totally cliche but Knowledge is power!  The more we know the more we can improve our lives and the lives of those around us.
Masters Deluxe Hood - Masters Hoods - Masters Products - Faculty11. What’s one thing people wouldn’t realize about you at first glance?

That I’m an over-achiever and have three college degrees (AAS,BS,MBA).  I work in a male dominated world and I absolutely hate the stereotype that since I’m female in a male environment that I’m simply a ditzy secretary.  The hugest pet peeve EVER!

Your turn! 🙂

… { TAG – You’re IT! } …

Colors of the Rainbow Tag

Red –  Deluxe Sample of Clarins Instant Smooth.  I love to put this creamy base/primer under my eyes before I put on a concealer to hide my dark circles!  Some concealers will crease or fade, this seems to stop that!

Orange – Herbal Essences Body Envy Hair Spray.  This works great at holding my curls but yet also lets me run my fingers through it or even a comb without getting “crunchy” or hard.

Yellow-Bath & Body Works Hand Soap in Kitchen Lemon (old packaging) I love this scent for the bathroom or kitchen, a couple years ago after Christmas I stock piled some that I’m working through before I can buy any more!

Green-I couldn’t pick just one, I love both of these equally!  1)Covergirl Naturelux Foundation in Aspen.  This mimics a bb cream or tinted moisturizer to me and leaves a semi-matte finish.  I love it when I’m wanting some light-medium coverage.  Its lasting power could be better but overall it will make it through the day.  2) Clinique Lipstick in Pink Spice – My FAVORITE Clinique lipstick it lasts and its just a nice neutral color.

Blue-Maybelline the Rocket Volume Waterproof Mascara.  My new favorite – I was on the search for a mascara that won’t flake on me but doesn’t irritate my eyes.  So far this one is now my go to product!

Indigo-Wet n Wild Idol-eyes in navy.  This is so fun to play with as an eyeliner or smudge it out as a creme eyeshadow.

Violet-Thayers Lavender Witch Hazel Toner.  Three things I LOVE about this product.  1) Scent is lovely – not strong but just lingers as you’re putting it on. 2) Its Organic 3) Its Alcohol Free as well as Paraben Free! I’d heard about this product and was skeptical but toners with alcohol always either irritate my skin or dry it out.  It comes in other scents but I like the calming lavender scent instead of rose or cucumber.  I cannot say enough good things about it!

Pink– My Sephora hot pink eyelash curler and my favorite eye duo EVER! Clinique’s Strawberry Fudge looks amazing on fair skin with brown eyes!

Multi-I couldn’t decide what I wanted to use for this so I chose my z-pallette.  If you’ve never seen these I have the smallest one but they come in three sizes and multiple colors.  Basically its a magnetic holder and you de-pot your favorite products (mine are all eyeshadows) and make your own custom pallatte plus it saves space.  In this pallatte I have the shadows from five separate products that were taking up space in my makeup bag!  3 singles, a quad, and a trio make up my pallette and you truely see my comfort zone in eye shadow colors! 🙂 I now tag any of you that want to share your favorites!  Please post your link below if you do or have done this so I can read about the products you picked! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Gracious Luck!
