Hi Loves! I’m a bzzagent and had the chance to try out some makeup and let people know what I think of it. This review is for Neutrogena’s new foundation – Nourishing Long Wear Makeup. Continue reading

Walmart Haul & First Impressions!

I recently went on a drugstore makeup spree.  I had a gift card for Walmart, a stack of makeup related coupons I’d been holding on to for a rainy day, so I went a mission to find some new treasures!  While I picked up a few other basic items, I wanted to share with you what I found, and what I’m thinking of these items. (Click an image if you want to see it bigger!)

Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation –

I had a $2 coupon so I got it for less than $5 and figured this is a good time to try this product out.  This is my first experience with a “whipped” style foundation but I have grown to love it.  I use my real techniques expert face brush to apply it and honestly a little goes a long way.  I’ve also noticed that it is buildable if you want to hid some imperfections but as with anything – remember to keep blending and buffing it in otherwise I think it could be easy to get cake-face with this!  I would say its medium coverage for me.  It has a lovely matte finish that feels very light and natural to me.  So far I really like this product!

Covergirl Eye Enhancers –  #222 Drama Eyes & #276 Sugar Coated

I love these fall colors but they swatched a little more sheer than I would have hoped.  The dark colors are fairly pigmented but the lighter shades are fair.  The green from sugar coated which I think I was most excited to try with brown eyes takes a lot to get that color.  However the gold/copper shade was to die for the other day when I wore it to work.  In the drama eyes quad I was most excited to experiment with the cranberry color and honestly, don’t have a black or dark gray shadow so that was a bonus.  I wish the two lighter shades had been something different instead of almost identical but I can deal!  As with most companies and eye shadows, it is always hit and miss.  So far I’m on the fence about these quads.  I think I’ll try the less pigmented shades wet and see if I can find a different use for them.

Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Nail Polish in Clearly Spotted

I’ve wanted to try these polishes for a while, but wasn’t sure if I want another glitter style polish.  Its basically glitter but its not shiny so its just various sized black and white pieces in a clear coat.  However – I did get “clearly” spotted.  I don’t know that I would try this as a polish since its so thin and takes a while to build up but love the idea of using it as a top coat.  I feel like it leaves more of a splattered paint look than polka dots though!  See my weekend mani to see the top coat in action!

Have you tried any of these products?  What are your thoughts?

Frugal Friday – Top 10 UNDER $10 {beauty products!}

This week’s Frugal Friday is – My Top 10 under $10 in beauty!  I love reading the recommendations of others so thought I would jump on this bandwagon and share with you 10 of my favorites!

1. Real Techniques Brushes – Specifically the Expert Face Brush {$8.99}

I love this brush for applying liquid foundation.  Its super soft and works wonders on buffing in foundation and leaving you with an almost airbrushed look if you do it right.  They are also durable, I’ve used and washed mine several times and have yet to lose any bristles!  *I recently received a 30% off coupon from Kohls which now sells these brushes online.  I’ve never seen them in stores but if you had a coupon and a Kohls MVC card you can score 30% off and free shipping making this brush $6.30!  Coupon lasts until Sunday August 18!  I have also seen these brushes on – however I bought my first from Ulta.

2. Biore Cleansers! – Acne Clearing Scrub {$5.47 @}

-Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser {$5.47 @}

These are hands down my favorite face scrub & cleanser.  The scrub has this citrus scent that wakes you up in the morning or is a nice bright scent to end your day with!  It does have some exfoliation and I’ve used it morning & night but heads up that if you scrub too hard you could rough up your skin.  The ice cleanser just leaves your  skin feeling cool & tingly when you use it.  Lately I use the ice cleanser day & night and the scrub a couple times a week since I’m not breaking out.

3. Covergirl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation {$9.47 @}

I have fair skin – I use #810 Ivory in this and it is perfect!  It can cling to dry patches if you have any so be sure to moisturize before using it.  It has pretty great lasting power – I can get about 8hrs out of it with out a touch up.  I did wear it to an outdoor festival last weekend and despite my face being covered in sweat (thanks humidity!) it didn’t get too splotchy and required minimal touch up once I blotted my face.   It has medium coverage and I love to use with my Expert Face Brush mentioned above!

4. Maybelline The Rocket Mascara {$5.94 @}

I have several mascara’s that I like but this one seems to work about the best!  I use waterproof because I like the extra security of no flakes or smudges!

5. Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer in Radiant {$6.44 @}

I have tried high-end concealers to get rid of my blue tinted dark circles and this one continues to be my favorite, plus its a fraction of the price!

6. Wet ‘n Wild Eye Trios {$2.99 @}

I have a few of these trios and it amazes me at how pigmented they are despite being so inexpensive!  Heads up with the darker colors, start light and build up or you’ll have a mess on your hands before you know it!

7. ELF Bronzer in Golden {3.00 @}

I have tried several bronzers but this is my favorite with a subtle shimmer.  It adds a nice amount of warmth without making me look orange or muddy!

8. Sally Hansen Nail Color {1.99+ @}

This is my go-to drugstore brand of nail polish.  It lasts for a long time and the color choices are fantastic.

9. Maybelline Color Whispers {$5.94 @}

I have this in pink possibilities and its a lovely pink.  Not to bright but adds sheer color to your lips and you can’t even tell its there – which is something I love about it!

10. L’Oreal Colour Riche Eye Quads {$7.95 @}

I have two of these and love the flexibility of the colors!  They are pigmented and versatile.

Quick Look – feat. VS Metallized in Buzz

For this look I used:

  • VS Metallized Eye Shadow in Buzz (a gun metal grey with purple tones).
  • VS Luminous Shadow & Liner in Temptress (Plum shadow & Navy liner)
  • Covergirl Eye Enhancers #125 (discontinued)

I started with VS Pro eye primer and then put the color buzz all over the lid and up towards the crease.

Next I used the light purple as a highlight along my brow bone, and last used the the navy liner.

I finished the look with Maybelline The Rocket in black.

Thanks for stopping by Gracious Luck today!

Quick Look ~ Purple Smokey Eye

This look uses a discontinued Victorias Secret Quad but I have found similar colors in L’Oreal and Covergirl trios and singles.   The quad is called Ravishing and is from a couple of years ago.  I started with my VS Pro Primer and then used the lilac color all over the lid and into the crease.  Next I took the lightest shade which is a very soft pink and put it along my browbone.  Then I took the deep plum/purple color into the crease and lastly took the dark grey color and used it as a top and bottom liner.

Thanks for stopping by Gracious Luck and have a fantastic day!

Quick Look ~ Work Appropriate Eyes {tans}

Today I wanted to share a quick post about a another favorite eye shadow quad that I am loving!  This is usually my go to for work – something simple but yet polished.  This look is from L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Line – New Essentials in #841 Because I Am Worth It.

I love the quality of these colors, you can keep them more shear or build it up for a slightly more dramatic look.

I started off with an eyeshadow primer (still working on using up VS Pro Primer).  And then swept the top shade across the lid, took the second color down for highlighting my brow bone, used the third color in the crease, and then used a damp liner brush and the bottom for a quick eyeliner.  Last I topped it off with Maybelline The Rocket mascara.

The eyeliner blends a little too well into the other shades so I might suggest using another liner instead if you want a truly lined eye but would look great with a chocolate brown eyeliner.

Have a great day & Thanks for stopping by Gracious Luck!

Quick Look – Subtle Smokey Eyes

Today I wanted to share a quick eye look from the weekend.  I was going out with friends and wanted to experiment with this eye shadow quad from L’Oreal Colour Riche in Sultry Suductress.  I’m sorry a couple pictures are blurred and I took them before I put on mascara!  I’ll work on that for next time I do one of these! I wanted to share the look – since it was casual t-shirt and shorts night out at a festival I didn’t want to go too dramatic but wanted to do something fun.  First I started with a primer – I’m currently using up Victorias Secret Pro Eye Shadow Primer. Next I used the top shade up to my crease. The second shade (champagne) along my brow bone and then put a little purple into the crease.  Lastly, I used a wet flat liner brush with the bottom graphite color to draw in my eyeliner.  When wet the graphite shade comes out almost black.   Since it looked a little harsh against the lid color I used a smudge brush to soften it a little.   Finishing touch was a couple coats of mascara.

Thank you for stopping by Gracious Luck!  I hope you have a great day!
